Studies on hospitality have to do with the relation between hosts and guests in all domains – domestic, public, commercial and virtual – and in several cultural contexts.

From these perspectives, the practice of hospitality (or its opposite, hostility) has been considered as a characteristic linked to human life. A theme studied directly by social and also by human, legal and natural sciences, hospitality and hostility are fascinating themes by themselves, but also important tools for the study of several researches associated to a number of academic fields.

Seen as a broader concept, hospitality requires a critical attitude from the academic community, as to understanding these domains and contexts not as dissociated, but as related and interdependent.

The worldwide nature of the movement of people linked to different cultural contexts requires that research on hospitality is able to explore both similarities and differences between communities that open or close their doors to the one that arrives.

This network was created to benefit associations, common research agendas and joint projects as well as to disseminate research results and scientific communities actions that, for being globally distributed or speaking different languages, not always have the opportunity of exchanging experiences.

The idea of network presupposes collaboration. On our part, we hope it is effective, continued and responsible, based on the principle of generosity, a feeling that should permeate attitudes and practices of researchers dedicated to hospitality.

Come on in and feel yourself at home.
